From Bengaluru to Darmstadt: my journey so far

Two startups, a deep-learning job, and a move across continents to study AI again. Here's how the pieces fit together.

People often ask why someone who had already co-founded two companies would go back to university. The honest answer is that every chapter of my career pointed in the same direction — I just didn't see it until I looked back.

Starting with a marketplace

In 2020 I co-founded Pitch2Ad in Bengaluru: an advertising e-commerce marketplace where publishers and advertisers could buy and sell ad slots. Alongside it we built Adstick, a digital advertising screen product that combined hardware and software. It was my first real lesson in building something end to end — from the device on the wall to the platform behind it.

Learning deep learning in production

Next I joined Megh Computing as a software engineer. I worked on an end-to-end pipeline for Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and on integrating an ASIC AI chip from AlphaICs with Megh's image application. This is where I learned that a model is only one piece of an AI system — data, pipelines and hardware matter just as much.

Founding again — this time in healthcare

In 2022 I co-founded Neural-i, an image-analytics startup for digital pathology. We were funded and incubated at IIM Bangalore's NSRCEL, as a Government of India (DST) funded startup. Building AI for medical images raised the bar on everything: accuracy, trust, and how closely we had to work with domain experts.

Every role taught me the same thing from a different angle: the hardest problems in AI sit between the model and the people who use it.

Back to learning, in Germany

That's what brought me to TU Darmstadt for an M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. From 2024 to 2025 I worked as a student research assistant at the Multimodal AI Lab under Prof. Dr. Anna Rohrbach and Prof. Dr. Marcus Rohrbach.

Since February 2025 I've been a working student at hessian.AI, where AI research meets the startup ecosystem in Hesse — a place that brings my founder side and my research side together.

What's next

I want to keep building AI that leaves the notebook and does useful work in the real world. This site is where I'll write about what I learn along the way.
